Mobile operators’ are rolling out LTE services, because of its efficiency in handling high peak loads.
So, LTE can play a substitute role to fixed broadband. It can be deployed in rural areas as an extension of fixed networks. And replacement for DSL.
And in urban areas, LTE is a replacement for ADSL.
And satellite TV providers can use LTE in their quest to become multiplay operators.

Always On, Always Connected
Tag : Media Strategy
|
|
For the past decade, the world has been steadily moving towards Internet everywhere. Most devices (& hence persons, groups, organizations, institutions, localities) if not already connected, will surely be, in the near future.
Traditional media attributes comprise of text, audio & video. In the “Always On, Always Connected” generation, media will have 2 new attributes: * Consumer participation – from instant feedback to creating media content * Consumer connectivity – especially the wireless kind
These “new” attributes are sure to extend the definition of media!

Just Simpler While it is clear that voice & data communication is becoming simpler, easier & cheaper, this is equally true for broadcast media – both distribution as well as consumption. Resulting in some revenue loss for pay-TV, cable & telecom operators - according to the 11th edition of “Telecom Operators: Let’s Face It”.
And one of the chief reasons will be the increasing competition from Over-The-Top TV (OTT TV) players like Google, Apple, Microsoft, et al. (Who by the way, will also eat into telcos’ core areas of wireless voice & SMS.)
Let’s face it - in the coming years, a TV or radio commercial may be also classified as an online ad. Just like a news magazine ad!
* “Telecom Operators: Let’s Face It” – 11th edition published by Arthur D Little & BNP Paribas predicts that pay-TV operators & telecom operators stand to face a decline in revenue by nearly 2% p.a. until 2015.
